Walking dead who dies next?
The Walking Dead has set itself up as a show where you expect to see characters die. After all, this is a show that is all about a zombie apocalypse, complete with the zombies killing and then eating the living, so that is just a part of the world they live in. The term red shirt is used very often, a term coined from the old tv show Star Trek in that whatever new character was wearing a red shirt and was sent out on a mission always died.
The walking dead spoilers has its share of red shirts. Those being new characters who you know are not going to make it through the show they are introduced in, or best case one or two shows later.
But they are also known for having regular main characters killed off. We saw Shane, one of the leads who was played brilliantly by Jon Bernthal who is currently doing a great job as The Punisher on Netflix, die at the end of Season 2. This after we saw the show’s moral compass, Dale, and a female child of one of the characters, Sophia, both killed off. Season 3 brought us numerous deaths of main characters including Rick’s wife Lori, original survivor and fan favorite T-Dog, and the most shocking of all Andrea a character who was still alive in the comics at the time and one of the leads of the comic books with a lot of story line the show had yet to tackle. So the Walking dead has shown they are willing to deviate from the comics, killing off characters that are still alive in the comics(Andrea, Sophia), keeping alive characters that were killed in the comics by the same time frame(Carol, Morgan) and introducing characters to the tv show that didn’t even exist in the comics(Daryl being the big one here, but many others including Sasha, Tara, Enid)
So knowing the show’s desire to shock the audience with unforeseen deaths, the question constantly gets asked, “who dies next on the walking dead?”.
People are usually more focused on the established characters, the ones they are vested in, but that list is relatively short based on the number of deaths that have already happened. There are always various walking dead spoilers out there addressing this issue, and much fan chatter on speculation about this topic.
The one that seems to be most focused on right now is Carl Grimes. With the most recent episode showing Carl being very humane and compassionate to strangers, a strategy that usually doesn’t end well for characters, there is a huge amount of speculation does Carl die? It looked like he could have been bit in Episode #6 of season 8, so is Carl Grimes dead?
Fan sites have great conversations about these topics, where everyone can share information they have and discuss their theories. But one thing is certain. Whether Carl grimes is dead or alive, the question of who dies next on the walking dead will continue on.
